Microsoft Azure Compute Node Services is looking for a Software Engineer to build reliable and performance-critical components that run on every server in the Microsoft Azure Cloud, focusing on Quality and Fundamentals to create highly reliable products operating on millions of machines.

Requirements

  • proven experience coding in C++, C-Sharp, and/or Java
  • equivalent experience.
  • Professional and/or academic experience in distributed systems, cloud computing, and/or cloud infrastructure.
  • Professional and/or academic experience with .NET and/or Git.
  • Experience with improving service operations or engineering quality and fundamentals.
  • Experience in building system software that runs on Windows and/or Linux systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develops systems and frameworks to enhance the quality and fundamentals of the systems.
  • Utilizes AI technology and advanced telemetry to generate insights and improve the overall quality of the product.
  • Creates and implement code for a product, service, or feature reusing code as applicable.
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions for simple problems, and recommends actions to restore system/product/service by following the playbook.
  • Reviews current developments and proactively seeks new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
  • Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a feature.
  • Supports identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product feature with oversight.

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year.
  • There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
