eBay's Identity Platform Team owns the core identity services that keep eBay secure and reliable — covering authentication, authorization, user data, sessions, device identity, and the services that support billions of requests daily. This role sits within eBay’s Identity User Platform/Services group, managing global user data and building highly scalable backend services that power almost every product across the eBay ecosystem.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Java / Java EE , REST/SOAP services, HTTP/XML
- Experience with Oracle, MongoDB, or NoSQL systems
- Background in distributed systems , ideally at very high scale
- Solid fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, OOP, design patterns
- Experience building multi-tier, high-throughput backend systems

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain large-scale, distributed backend systems used across the entire eBay platform
- Design, develop, test, and deliver backend services using Java and modern frameworks
- Lead end-to-end technical design and influence engineering decisions
- Contribute to architecture reviews, design discussions, and code reviews
- Work with Product, Architecture, QA, and Ops to deliver secure, high-performance solutions
- Support always-on services through shared release and on-call rotations
- Develop deep domain expertise in identity, data integrity, and high-volume distributed systems
