Waymo is seeking to develop and scale state-of-the-art simulation solutions to evaluate, train, and enhance the Waymo Driver, aiming to improve access to mobility services and save lives by reducing traffic-related fatalities.
Requirements
- Proficiency in deep learning, machine learning infrastructure, and related technologies
- Strong background in developing evaluation strategies for AI and ML systems
- Experience with large datasets creation, management, and analysis
- Familiarity with modern simulation techniques, 3D graphics, and sensor data processing
- Ability to independently manage product lifecycle from prototyping to scaling and deployment
Responsibilities
- Drive innovation in simulation technology by developing cutting-edge solutions using 3D Gaussian Splatting, foundational models, and traditional graphics techniques
- Lead the deployment and scaling of simulation systems to meet Waymo’s most demanding challenges
- Work closely with Waymo’s foundational AI research and ML Infra teams to translate research into scalable production systems
- Ensure scientific and statistical rigor in embodied AI applications within simulation environments
- Define, implement, and oversee evaluation strategies to measure system performance and progress
- Manage the entire product lifecycle, from initial prototyping to production deployment and scaling
Other
- 7+ years of experience leading and scaling large-scale machine learning and data systems
- Technical leadership experience, including hands-on involvement in large AI or LLM system development
- Expertise in data-driven report writing and strategic documentation for executive decision-making
- Collaborate with onboard teams, systems engineering, data science, and product teams to accelerate development and maximize impact
- Communicate goals and priorities effectively across teams and stakeholders
