Figma is looking to develop the core frameworks and systems that underpin AI features across their platform to support end-to-end AI feature development by designing, building, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on backend or infrastructure engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in AI, search infrastructure, or developer platform development.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as TypeScript, Python, or Ruby.
  • Strong system design skills with a proven track record of architecting resilient, production-grade systems.
  • Experience in debugging complex production issues across multiple services and layers of architecture.
  • Ability to contribute to platform strategy, roadmaps, and engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable systems supporting AI features across Figma’s platform.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, research, and infrastructure engineers to drive AI initiatives forward.
  • Contribute to shaping the platform’s technical strategy, roadmaps, and best practices to enhance system performance and developer experience.
  • Debug and resolve complex issues in production environments, ensuring minimal downtime and high system availability.
  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and inclusivity.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI infrastructure and incorporate best practices into Figma’s platform development.
  • Participate in code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing to promote engineering standards across teams.
