The Aircraft Center for Earth Studies (ACES) at the University of Miami needs a Software Engineer to support the development, deployment, and research application of advanced airborne remote sensing technologies for environmental monitoring.
Requirements
- Proficiency in scientific programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or R).
- Experience with image analysis, computational imaging, or autonomous sensing systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and refine algorithms to enhance Active Fluid Lensing and MiDAR data processing.
- Build and maintain tools for object detection, image reconstruction, and spectral analysis.
- Contribute to software toolchains that support airborne and underwater imaging platforms.
- Develop and operate data pipelines for processing multispectral and fluid lensing datasets.
- Perform data analysis to support remote sensing fieldwork and scientific publications.
- Build visualization tools and support reproducible data workflows for ongoing research projects.
- Assist in mission planning, equipment testing, and troubleshooting software in the field.
Other
- Participate in domestic and international field campaigns, including drone operations and data collection.
- Contribute to research papers, technical reports, and manuscript preparation.
- Collaborate with researchers and students to meet project milestones.
- Provide technical mentorship to student researchers and visiting teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate in interdisciplinary environments.
