Alpha is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to enhance the scalability, reliability, and architectural maturity of their backend systems for their AI and consumer social platforms, aiming to develop social products that resonate deeply with users and have the potential to reach billions worldwide.
Requirements
- Extensive experience designing and implementing complex backend systems with a focus on performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Strong understanding of system architecture, APIs, data pipelines, and infrastructure
- Proven ability to mentor and lead engineering teams, fostering growth and best practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and design scalable solutions
- Deep technical expertise in backend development, including proficiency in relevant programming languages and frameworks
- Demonstrated success in evolving engineering practices and improving system design processes
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of scalable backend systems, including APIs, data pipelines, and infrastructure components
- Address and resolve technical challenges related to system performance, reliability, and cost optimization
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing to accelerate team growth
- Establish and promote best practices in system architecture, documentation, and operational procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical solutions align with product goals and user needs
- Drive initiatives to improve incident response, system resilience, and operational efficiency
- Contribute to long-term technical strategy, including system modeling, pattern development, and process improvements

- Competitive base salary ranging from $260,000 to $290,000
