Squint is looking to scale and harden its core backend systems to improve reliability, performance, and developer velocity as the company grows. The goal is to empower frontline manufacturing operators with AI and AR capabilities through a robust and scalable platform.
Requirements
- Experience designing, scaling, and operating production backend systems on a major cloud provider (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
- Hands-on experience with core infrastructure tooling such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and modern CI/CD.
- Strong observability instincts and familiarity with monitoring/logging stacks (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Proficiency in backend languages such as Python, Node.js, or Go.
- Comfort across data systems, including relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and non-relational (MongoDB/Firestore) databases.
- 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer with a strong focus on infrastructure, platform, or DevOps.
Responsibilities
- Scale and harden Squint’s backend infrastructure: compute, networking, data stores, and core services.
- Build and evolve our observability stack (metrics, logs, tracing, alerting) to improve uptime and debuggability.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines and release processes to support fast iteration with high confidence.
- Drive reliability engineering practices: incident response, postmortems, SLOs, and prevention-focused tooling.
- Mentor and uplevel the team on infrastructure best practices, performance tuning, and operational excellence.
- Partner with Engineering leadership on system design and technical strategy as we grow.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure infrastructure supports product needs and compliance requirements.
