Zipcar is looking to add new talent to their backend engineering team to design, develop, and optimize Java-based microservices that make their car sharing experience smarter, faster, and simpler for millions of users, and to solve complex backend challenges that streamline the rental experience for both individual members and their B2B partners.
Requirements
- Java (Spring Boot)
- RESTful APIs, Microservices
- SQL/NoSQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
- Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS/GCP/Azure
- Git, Jira, IntelliJ, Postman
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (Java preferred).
- Familiarity with backend technologies and service-oriented architecture.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Java-based microservices in a cloud-native architecture.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (front-end, product, QA) to deliver reliable and scalable features.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and daily stand-ups.
- Write clean, testable, and efficient code following best practices.
- Help improve system performance and reduce technical debt through refactoring and optimization.
- Investigate and debug backend issues, proposing solutions to improve system robustness and user experience.
- Contribute to improving the end-to-end car sharing journey, making it more seamless and intuitive for users.
Other
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Interest in building scalable backend systems and solving real-world problems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Minimum GPA 3.0
