Vercel is building a platform to power all compute, providing primitives for builds, serverless functions, middleware, edge functions, secure compute, and sandboxes. The goal is to improve performance and reliability for running untrusted customer code, where even a 1% performance improvement has significant repercussions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, Golang preferred.
- Extended experience with Containers.
- Extended experience with Virtual Machines.
- Extended experience with Linux.
- Experience with digging deep to know how Containers, Virtual Machines, and Linux work under the hood (tcpdump, strace and iptables).
- Experience building and operating distributed systems at scale.
- Experience with schedulers and orchestrators for managing containers and non-containerized applications such as Nomad.
Responsibilities
- Manage our fleet of clusters, running 100’s of instances, deployed in every region where our customers deploy and run their code.
- Writing Golang on a daily basis.
- Using terraform for provisioning the needed infra.
- Working with Nomad for scheduling workloads.
- Building a platform that provides primitives to run all untrusted code from our customers.
- Participate in the conception and implementation of new platform features.
- Improving performance or increasing reliability of systems.

- The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $180,000-$280,000.
