The Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) needs to evaluate innovative electronic devices and computers to address emerging cyber-based threats affecting the Department's personnel, critical infrastructure, and information assets.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or equivalent programming languages.
- Strong familiarity with iOS and Android mobile devices.
- Proficiency with one or more of the following: Linux OS, Windows OS, Apple OS, Apple iOS, and Android OS.
- Understanding of cybersecurity and information security principles.
- Proficiency in technical report creation and interpretation.
- Proficiency in research methodologies and data gathering techniques.
- Familiarity with modern software hacking techniques such as fuzzing and side channeling.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research and data gathering to evaluate innovative electronic devices and computers.
- Perform theoretical and laboratory assessments of diverse technologies, devices, and hardware.
- Develop and document meticulous test plans to assess potential security risks posed by mobile devices and emerging technologies.
- Design and execute laboratory experiments and simulations to validate the efficacy of implemented information security controls.
- Devise and implement strategies to ensure strict adherence to cybersecurity protocols across all projects.
- Stay abreast of advancements in relevant fields such as computers, cellphones, medical devices, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, fostering continuous process improvement.
- Provide technical expertise and support to address software engineering and cybersecurity issues as they arise.
Other
- Must have a current Interim Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government final TOP SECRET Personnel Security Clearance and be able to qualify for SCI access.
- Must have a bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a similar field and at least three (3) years of experience working in software engineering.
