Waymo is looking to build a high-resolution map of the world to support safe autonomous driving, which is essential for its fully autonomous ride-hail service and other vehicle platforms.
Requirements
B.S. in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
3+ years of industry experience
Experience with statistical analysis.
Experience with large-scale data processing using frameworks like Google Data Flow or Apache Beam
Williness to own problems end-to-end and work on various parts of the system
A passion for good software engineering
M.S. or Ph.D in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Experience with Tensorflow and/or C++
Responsibilities
Evaluate and launch machine learning models that automatically generate map from raw data.
Work with onboard teams to evolve Waymo’s mapping format to make it more automation friendly.
Apply statistical analysis to validate large-scale changes.
Build backend infrastructure for storing and processing many forms of map data
Scale our systems to support mapping the whole world
