The RealReal is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (Full Stack) to enhance on-platform experiences and acquire and activate high-value customers, supporting the company's mission of sustainability through circular economy practices.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of software development experience
- Proven experience with the development, scaling, and maintenance of distributed systems
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, architectural design, and agile methodologies
- Experience with Ruby on Rails or Elixir
- Background in developing and implementing marketing technology (MarTech)
- Experience collaborating with Data Engineering and Machine Learning teams
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable software solutions, making strategic architectural decisions to influence technical direction
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Product, Marketing, Data Engineering, and Machine Learning to align technology development with business objectives
- Conduct rigorous code reviews, advocate for best coding practices, and ensure maintainability and efficiency of codebase
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and promoting a culture of technical excellence
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends, identifying opportunities to innovate and improve our systems and processes
- Address complex technical challenges with innovative solutions, proactively anticipating potential issues to ensure smooth project execution
- Contribute to the evolution of the company’s technology stack, ensuring robust, secure, and high-quality product delivery
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Leadership experience in project management and mentoring junior engineers
- Contributions to open-source projects or a strong GitHub portfolio (preferred)
