Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information. Products need to handle information at massive scale and extend beyond web search. The team combines AI, Software, and Hardware to create helpful experiences, researching, designing, and developing new technologies and hardware to make computing faster, seamless, and more powerful.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., C++)
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  • 2 years of experience working with compilers (e.g., compiler optimizations, parallelization, etc.).
  • Experience in Multi-Level Intermediate Representation (MLIR) or Low Level Virtual Machine (LLVM).
  • Experience with deep learning (e.g., convolutions, matrix multiplication, attention, etc.).
  • Experience with computer architecture (e.g., SIMD/vector programming, DSP programming, etc.).
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, Jax, or PyTorch.

Responsibilities

  • Build the compiler frontend that bridges the gap between the ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Jax, TensorFlow, etc.) and the compiler middle-end (optimizer) and backend (code generator).
  • Define abstractions for ML techniques proposed by ML research teams.
  • Define abstractions to expose hardware-specific features to ML engineers or compiler users.
  • Create transformations for operations, data types, or quantization schemes not natively supported by the hardware.
  • Create converters for different model file formats and intermediate representations.

Other

  • Mountain View, CA, USA; Kirkland, WA, USA
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience with quantization schemes or floating point properties.
  • We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.
