HII's Mission Technologies division is seeking a Software Engineer 3 to develop innovative technology solutions for the Space Development group to ensure the Nation achieves and maintains space superiority in a multi-domain conflict. This role will focus on developing space combat power and multi-domain simulation software to support various military planning, analysis, and training objectives.
Requirements
- Advanced proficiency in C++ programming, including compiling, linking, and debugging complex applications
- Experience compiling, linking, and debugging of C++ applications.
- Hands-on experience with agent-based and event-driven modeling and simulation.
- Familiarity with space systems concepts, such as coordinate systems, time standards, and orbital propagation.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, agile development environment.
- Experience problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-pace agile development environment.
- Proficiency in Python, including experience with embedded Python applications
Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs space simulation software.
- Performs code reviews and ensures work quality remains high.
- Conducts multidisciplinary research to support team development and modeling objectives.
- Contributes to simulation software architecture discussions.
- Works with customers to capture requirements and feedback.
- Updates status and presents progress to local leadership and customers.
- Interacts with the team via Confluence, Discourse, GitLab, and Jira.

- Required Travel: 0 - 10%
- Works with government leadership to keep the team on course.

- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
