Microsoft is seeking to empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more by hiring Software Engineering Interns focused on frontend development to design and ship responsive, accessible, enterprise-grade user interfaces for global customer-facing products and platforms.
Requirements
- One year of programming experience in an object-oriented language.
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
- Coursework or projects in frontend engineering using TypeScript/JavaScript and React; understanding of web fundamentals (HTML, CSS, HTTP).
- Experience building customer-facing UI or enterprise product features (course project, hackathon, open-source, prior internship).
- Exposure to services integration (REST/GraphQL), state management, testing frameworks, and CI/CD.
- Interest in Live Site Operations and observability (logs, metrics, dashboards) and iterating on product experience using telemetry/experiments.
- Familiarity with accessibility and design systems concepts.
Responsibilities
- Applies engineering principles to solve complex problems through sound and creative engineering.
- Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for web/mobile applications.
- Quickly learns new engineering methods and incorporates them into work processes.
- Demonstrates skill in time management and completing software projects in a cooperative team environment.
- Reviews current developments and proactively seeks new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
- Seeks feedback and applies internal or industry best practices to improve technical solutions.
- Partners closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver features that are usable, performant, and secure.
Other
- Enrolled in a full-time bachelor's or master’s program in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field during the academic term immediately before the internship.
- Must have at least 1 semester/term remaining following the completion of the internship.
