Microsoft is looking for Software Engineering Interns to help design and ship responsive, accessible, enterprise-grade user interfaces that power customer-facing products and platforms used at global scale. The goal is to build delightful UI, integrate with services, and learn how product experiences are measured, iterated, and supported in Live Site Operations.

Requirements

  • One year of programming experience in an object-oriented language.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
  • Demonstrated interest in frontend work.
  • Coursework or projects in frontend engineering using TypeScript/JavaScript and React; understanding of web fundamentals (HTML, CSS, HTTP).
  • Experience building customer‑facing UI or enterprise product features (course project, hackathon, open‑source, prior internship).
  • Exposure to services integration (REST/GraphQL), state management, testing frameworks, and CI/CD.
  • Interest in Live Site Operations and observability (logs, metrics, dashboards) and iterating on product experience using telemetry/experiments.

Responsibilities

  • Join us to design and ship responsive, accessible, enterprise‑grade user interfaces that power customer‑facing products and platforms used at global scale.
  • You will work to build delightful UI, integrate with services, and learn how product experiences are measured, iterated, and supported in Live Site Operations.
  • You’ll partner closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver features that are usable, performant, and secure—gaining hands‑on exposure to services integration and modern engineering practices.
  • Applies engineering principles to solve complex problems through sound and creative engineering.
  • Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for web/mobile applications.
  • Quickly learns new engineering methods and incorporates them into work processes.
  • Seeks feedback and applies internal or industry best practices to improve technical solutions.

Other

  • Enrolled in a full time bachelor's or master’s program in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field during the academic term immediately before the internship.
  • Must have at least 1 semester/term remaining following the completion of the internship.
  • Familiarity with accessibility and design systems concepts; eagerness to learn and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Travel: 0-25 %
  • Work site: Up to 50% work from home
