Light & Wonder's Gaming team is looking to build and maintain Unity-based development kits that power their next-generation slot games, requiring robust, scalable plugins and tools to streamline game production and enhance visual fidelity.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Unity Engine, including Editor scripting and runtime systems.
  • Solid experience with both C and C++, especially in cross-language integration.
  • Familiarity with Unity’s Native Plugin Interface, IL2CPP, and Scriptable rendering pipelines is a plus.
  • Experience working in a production environment with version control is a plus.
  • Development tools including IDEs and debuggers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Code reviewing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain Unity plugins using C and native C++.
  • Develop and extend our internal Unity-based dev kit used across multiple game titles.
  • Collaborate closely with team members and technical artists to support rendering workflows and asset pipelines.
  • Optimize plugin performance across platforms (Windows, Android).
  • Debug and resolve integration issues between Unity and native systems.
  • Document APIs, workflows, and best practices for internal teams.
  • Stay Informed: Keep up to date with gaming and technology trends, applying relevant insights to enhance the engine.

Other

  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years professional experience in a software development team.
  • Design Patters and Object-Oriented Programming.
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine is an asset but not a requirement.
  • Must be able to obtain and hold Gaming Registrations/Licenses.
  • This is a hybrid position (2-3 days a week) reporting into our Chicago office.
