Microsoft is looking to hire a Software Engineer I to develop features, improvements, enhancements, and bug fixes within Azure SQL products, specifically for deployment and operation within air-gapped environments. The systems built must meet stringent security and assurance requirements for public and private sector customers in highly secured and regulated industries.
Requirements
- proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Experience in development in the Kubernetes ecosystem
- Experience in building large scale cloud services, distributed systems, or operating systems
- Experience with improving service operations or engineering fundamentals.
- Experience building and shipping production software or services.
- Experience developing applications hosted on top of Azure, AWS, or other similar cloud platforms
- Experience problem solving and debugging skills
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver software and infrastructure to improve the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of your services.
- Successfully complete engineering phases of projects in conformance to project goals, requirements, and schedule.
- Pay utmost attention to quality right from the design phase, incorporating best practices and engineering for testability.
- React to problems relating to mission critical services by analyzing telemetry, logs, and monitoring, to root cause issues and mitigate.
- Engage in improving service deployment and testing processes by pitching, designing, and implementing automated tools and solutions.
- Communicate and collaborate with engineers in the broader scope of the product to deliver solutions specifically for air-gapped environments.
- Responsible for live site health of services and infrastructure supporting investments in air-gapped clouds with periodic on-call.

- Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
- The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph.
- This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions.
