Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence, and the Azure Event Grid's Engine engineering team needs a Software Engineer II to design and implement solutions for the next generation of PubSub for customers across the globe
Requirements
- 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- 1+ years of industry software engineering experience with building, deploying, and operating applications and services on cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Experience with open source software
- Knowledge of engineering tool gaps and ability to improve software developer tools
- Experience with coding patterns and best practices
- Experience with testing and assuring quality of solutions
- Experience with cloud-based technologies
Responsibilities
- Works with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical lead) to determine user requirements for a set of features
- Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable
- Creates a clear and articulated plan for testing and assuring quality of solutions, and defines success for outcomes of tests (e.g., unit tests)
- Builds knowledge, shares new ideas, and shares pinpoints of engineering tool gaps to improve software developer tools to support other programs, tools, and applications to create, debug, and maintain code for complex product features
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions

- Helps to drive efforts for augmenting test cases and ensures that the solution area has good test coverage
Other
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
- Ability to work on call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions

- Must be willing to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
