Microsoft's Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence, and the RemoteStorage/IORG team within Azure SQL Database is hiring Software Engineer to help monitor, improve, and innovate on the performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of the remote storage stack between SQL and the Azure ecosystem
Requirements
- Experience designing and developing production quality software using C/C++; proven experience in improving product performance
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: Database/OS internals, Hardware knowledge (CPU/System/Networking/Storage..), and Cloud related technologies
- Experience related to engineering skills to root cause issues in the product
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- Experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- Experience with Azure ecosystem and cloud-related technologies
Responsibilities
- Learn to review and break down work items into tasks with stakeholder collaboration, provide estimations, and escalate delays, while also supporting feature deployments to customers, considering user and service impacts, and adhering to best deployment practices for safety
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to define feature requirements, integrate feedback to enhance design, and establish feedback loops for continuous improvement based on customer metrics
- Provide a monthly (or bi-weekly) presentation to key-stakeholders with respect to the progress/new-findings/status of assigned deliverables
- Learn and apply coding standards and best practices through code reviews, developing maintainable and extensible code with guidance
- Utilize debugging tools to proactively and reactively address issues in product features, ensuring code quality and reliability
- Support the identification of dependencies and design documentation for product features, learn about system interactions and back-end dependencies, and contribute to architectural processes under guidance
Other
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience
- Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
