Microsoft's Windows Connected Experiences team is looking to hire a Software Engineer II to enhance the scale, reliability, and intelligence of their products, specifically focusing on the Phone Link application and its cross-device connectivity fabric to deepen user engagement and create a seamless experience between PCs and mobile devices.

Requirements

  • coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • 2+ years of experience building mobile applications.
  • Expertise with application development and/or cloud services.
  • Experience with mobile development
  • Full-stack development proficiency, with strong skills in both application front-end and back-end, building scalable and maintainable systems across the stack.
  • Analytical skills with a systematic and structured approach to software design.

Responsibilities

  • Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.
  • Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
  • Contribute to the applications and connectivity fabric powering connected experiences for millions of Windows users.
  • Responsible for areas related to device pairing and cross device communication including protocol design and implementation, security and authentication and integration with cloud services and mobile operating systems.

  • Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.
  • Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
  • Leverages subject-matter expertise of product features and partners with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items.
