Microsoft is looking to leverage cutting-edge AI research and application startups by having a forward-deployed engineer who can bridge the gap between these external entities and Microsoft's internal AI stack. This role aims to unblock Microsoft's use of AI through direct engagement and technical support at the startup level.

Requirements

• coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• 1+ year(s) of experience in AI to build solutions using toolchains and frameworks in Python, C++ and Kubernetes (K8s)
• 1+ year(s) of experience demonstrating a grasp of Large Language Model (LLM) post-training techniques, inference optimization, and application-layer use cases
• Experience in PyTorch is not required but can be helpful

Responsibilities

• contributing to the code base of inference and application layer systems
• Quick prototyping to stand up new capabilities at Microsoft
• Manage tech and asset transfer systems at forward deployed locations
• Work with Microsoft productionization teams to identify new/missing assets and configuration
• Identify and flag incoming risks based architecture changes

• 50% travel to San Francisco
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role
• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
