Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is looking to hire a Software Engineer II to help build and innovate a world-class content platform to support content delivery for brands such as Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu, ABC, Marvel and Star Wars. This role will contribute to the development and ongoing advancement of the technical and operational functions driving the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney’s linear networks and theatrical content.
Requirements
- Proficiency in at least one core programming language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Python, or JavaScript) for building reliable and maintainable software solutions.
- Experience working with REST APIs and GraphQL for building and consuming web services.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS and their core services (e.g., S3, Lambda, EC2).
- Knowledge of database systems, including MongoDB (NoSQL) and SQL-based databases.
- Exposure to event streaming platforms like Apache Kafka for data integration and messaging.
- Understanding of software development fundamentals, including object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms.
- Exposure to the full lifecycle of application development, including best practices of unit testing, code reviews, documentation, etc.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the design and implementation of multi-layered systems delivering high throughput consumer facing experiences
- Collaborate & troubleshoot with the rest of the team in the analysis and resolution of hard engineering problems involving high trafficked web application services and API’s.
- Oversee service performance, scalability, and event planning requirements
- Provide guidance and enforcement of development practices and processes.
- Review code and work with fellow engineers to ensure product and design specifications are met
- Research and learn new technologies
- designing and implementing product solutions using solid design principles, while balancing complexity, speed of implementation, and expandability.

- The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $117,500 to $157,500 per year.
