Microsoft's Azure Data engineering team is looking to transform analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The mission is to build the data platform for the age of AI, powering a new class of data-first applications and driving a data culture. The databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems, storing and managing data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. They are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings. This role specifically is to join Azure Cosmos DB, Microsoft’s next-generation, globally distributed, multi-model cloud database service, built to power planet-scale applications.
Requirements
- 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- 2+ years of experience designing, developing reliable engineering systems, and/or infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with query engines and query processing.
- Foundation in data structures and algorithms, with direct application to query processing.
Responsibilities
- Own the design and implementation of new query engine features.
- Analyze and optimize processing stages to improve performance and efficiency.
- Monitor the health of the query service to ensure reliability and high availability.
- Investigate user-reported issues, deliver high-quality fixes, and highlight opportunities for long-term improvements.
- Collaborate with partner teams and leadership to manage upstream and downstream dependencies.

- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
