Chewy's Pet Health team is on a mission to build innovative solutions for customers and partner vets, and the company is looking to hire a Software Engineer II to help design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems.
Requirements
- Experience in current web application core technologies: Java, Python, Spring, Spring Boot, Junit
- Experience in object oriented design
- Experience designing and integrating with RESTful APIs
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, architect, and develop usable components and features across distributed services
- Experience improving the performance of microservices
- Experience with load balancing
- Experience debugging and troubleshooting applications using tools like cloudsearch, opensearch, Kibana, Grafana or AWS Cloudwatch
Responsibilities
- Apply algorithms, data structures, and design patterns to produce efficient and performant code
- Develop, extend, and debug code within the scope of their teams existing tools and services
- Complete simple design and debug tasks
- Troubleshoot root causes of and solutions for bugs and production issues
- Make meaningful contributions to the team's existing service architecture, data architecture, dev-ops, and infrastructure as code, deployment pipelines, and public cloud services as part of a software development team
- Participate in on-call rotations and operational perfection
Other
- Bachelor's degree (Computer Science or similar technical field of study preferred), or equivalent work experience
- Mentor and guide junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and pair programming sessions
- Participate in sprint planning, technical design sessions, and retrospectives to improve development processes and team velocity
- Contribute to team culture by fostering collaboration, innovation, and accountability
