Google Cloud is looking to solve the problem of improving Federation support for BigLake and integrating with technologies like Apache Iceberg and Apache Delta to enhance the user experience across the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data analytics landscape
Requirements
- 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages such as C++ or Java
- Experience designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
- Experience with data analytics metadata systems (e.g., HMS, Iceberg Rest Catalog) or data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Trino, Flink, Beam)
- Experience with data lakes such as Apache Iceberg
- Experience with Cloud Networking
- Experience in Apache or other similar open-source projects such as Iceberg, Delta, Hudi, Spark, Presto, Flink etc
Responsibilities
- Write product or system development code
- Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency)
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the its impact

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field
- 2 years of experience with software development
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
