Google needs software engineers to develop next-generation technologies that can handle information at massive scale and extend beyond web search, and to work on specific projects critical to Google's needs, such as developing infrastructure, distributed systems, and networks.
Requirements
- 2 years of experience with software development
- 2 years of experience with developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture
- Experience with low-level system software (e.g., Linux kernel, filesystems, networking)
- Experience with performance optimization
- Experience in concurrency, multi-threading and synchronization
Responsibilities
- Write product or system development code in C++
- Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to select among available technologies
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality
Other
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
- Ability to work with a team of engineers
- 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field
