Airtable is looking to improve its critical product infrastructure to meet the needs of its fast-growing engineering organization.
Requirements
Experience in areas such as databases, distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, and data infrastructure
Strong background in computer science with a degree in CS or a related field
Experience with Kubernetes, Spinnaker, Terraform, and home-built infrastructure
Experience with RDS MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis, and TiDB
Experience with building internal compute platforms
Experience with distributed systems and databases
Knowledge of systems-level problems in a complex design space
Responsibilities
Proactively identify and lead significant improvements to Airtable’s infrastructure
Work on systems-level problems in a complex design space where scalability, efficiency, reliability, and security really matter
Build clean, reusable, and maintainable abstractions that will be used by Airtable’s engineers for years to come
Take full ownership of components of Airtable’s infrastructure, including responsibility for reliability, performance, efficiency, and observability of our production environment
Build tools that are in-use by nearly every engineer at Airtable in our logging, metrics, and tracing pipelines
Develop Kubernetes CRDs and operators to address some of Airtable's unique scalability challenges
Own all aspects of building, running, and improving business-critical, petabyte-scale storage systems

2-8 years of industry experience
Currently based or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area
Derive joy from refactoring and building clean abstractions
Strong background in computer science with a degree in CS or a related field
Flexible in working from the office or elsewhere, with the ability to come into the office at least ~2-3 times/week for team collaboration
