Votely is looking to solve the problem of building civic infrastructure at scale, handling high-traffic bursts, complex data pipelines, and rapid iteration to help users navigate their political alignment and civic engagement.
Requirements
- A solid grasp of at least one modern stack (e.g., TypeScript/Node, Python, Go, React, or Cloud Infra)
- Experience with Backend & Infra
- Experience with Product Engineering
- Experience with Systems
- Ability to handle high-traffic bursts, complex data pipelines, and rapid iteration
- Ability to optimize performance and reliability
- Experience with building real systems
Responsibilities
- Scale APIs and data models that power real-world civic outcomes.
- Ship user-facing features and experimentation frameworks.
- Optimize performance and reliability for a platform that cannot afford to go down during peak civic events.
- Own a slice of the stack based on your strengths
- Build production code to tens of thousands of users on day one
- Work directly with founders on system design and product tradeoffs
- Ship production code to tens of thousands of users
Other
- CS/Engineering student or recent grad aiming for the top 1% of SWE roles
- Prefer building real systems over completing coursework
- High 'figure-it-out' quotient and require minimal hand-holding
