Oceaneering Space Systems (OSS) is seeking a Gateway L2/L3 Deputy Flight Software System to support NASA's human spaceflight and deep space exploration programs by ensuring flight software products meet mission performance, reliability, and safety objectives.

Requirements

  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as VxWorks, RTEMS, or Linux-based embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of NASA or DoD flight software life cycle processes, including software certification, verification, and validation (V&V).
  • Experience supporting software integration and testing on flight hardware and integrated simulation environments.
  • Understanding of requirements management, design trades, risk analysis, and system interaction in a systems engineering environment.
  • Proficiency with requirements and configuration management tools (e.g., DOORS, JIRA, Git, or similar).
  • Familiarity with Space Wire, 1553, Ethernet, Time Triggered Ethernet, and data handling architectures.
  • Experience with verification and validation planning and execution at the system and subsystem level

Responsibilities

  • The HALO Flight Software Deputy Software System will support the HALO Flight Software System Manager in leading the design, development, integration, verification, and certification of the HALO spacecraft flight software system.
  • This position requires strong technical and leadership skills to coordinate across multiple NASA centers, contractors, and engineering disciplines to ensure that flight software products meet mission performance, reliability, and safety objectives.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related field and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills to engage a wide range of technical disciplines and project stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or coordinate technical efforts involving multiple teams or contractors
  • Ability to prepare high-quality technical documentation and presentations for internal and NASA-level design and certification reviews.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency maybe a requirement for this position.
