Crossing Hurdles is looking for a Software Engineer to support AI research labs in building and training cutting-edge AI models by analyzing code repositories and evaluating AI systems' reasoning capabilities.
Requirements
- Experience using coding agents or Large Language Models (LLMs) as part of engineering workflows (e.g., Copilot, Claude, GPT-4, Replit Agents).
- Fluent in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript; comfortable with Java, Go, Rust, C++, or C-Sharp.
- Strong architectural understanding and ability to identify design patterns and abstractions.
Responsibilities
- Analyze large, production-grade code repositories to devise and evaluate technically challenging coding questions.
- Systematically explore multiple modules and connect related functions across files for cross-file logical synthesis.
- Assess AI systems’ reasoning capabilities about software architecture, data flow, and performance.
- Base conclusions on evidence, citing specific files, functions, and code lines.
- Write clear, structured technical documentation conveying precise insights.

- Strong years of elite software engineering experience at top-tier startups, quantitative trading firms, hedge funds, or similar environments.
- Computer Science degree from a leading university or equivalent practical expertise.
- Exhibits intellectual honesty and precision with ability to acknowledge uncertainty.
