PNC's Payments Engine organization needs a Software Engineer Lead to be responsible for technical design and development within their line of business, addressing bugs, proposing solutions, and mentoring junior developers.
Requirements
- experience with the following: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Oversee code reviews, performance tuning, and optimization of legacy systems.
- Ensure high-quality deliverables through automated and manual testing strategies.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers.
- Participate in modernization efforts, including migration planning and integration with distributed systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues in a timely manner.

- The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis.
- PNC will not provide sponsorship for employment visas or participate in STEM OPT for this position.
- Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience. Certifications are often desired. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
