Zip's Engineering function needs a Software Engineer to solve challenges at scale in an agile, test-driven development environment, focusing on building cloud-native software applications that serve millions of customers and process billions of dollars in payments. The Merchant team specifically requires development and deployment of scalable, reliable systems to support Merchants across the industry, collaborating with Product, Integrations, and Sales to drive data-driven design and decision-making.
Requirements
- Proven experience in building scalable, reliable, and secure applications using C and the .NET ecosystem, with a strong emphasis on architectural patterns such as event sourcing, domain-driven design, and microservices.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and scaling applications on Microsoft Azure (ideally in an enterprise or high-volume environment).
- Familiarity with Azure services such as Functions, Cosmos DB, Service Bus, App Configuration, and Key Vault.
- Familiarity with relational database design and development, with hands-on experience in creating and optimizing schemas, writing efficient queries, and ensuring data integrity.
- Demonstrated use of AI in the performance of your role.
- You have 5+ years of demonstrated professional experience in the backend software engineering space
- Experience contributing to the migration of large-scale internal processes, helping to streamline operations and improve system efficiency during transitions.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development, support, and optimization of engineering solutions to reduce complexity and improve system performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product management, risk, data) to deliver solutions that reduce fraud losses and enhance transaction volume efficiency
- Work with a modern cloud-based, event-driven microservice architecture, gaining experience in scaling and maintaining systems
- Develop secure, scalable code that supports thousands of concurrent users while ensuring high reliability and performance
- Contribute to quick iterations and troubleshooting in a collaborative, team-focused environment
- Contribute to architectural discussions with use of system design fundamentals.
- Participate in planning sessions, contribute to feature design, and provide input during daily stand-ups to ensure smooth project delivery
