Waymo aims to build the most trusted autonomous driving technology by developing the Waymo Driver, which powers ride-hail services and can be applied to various vehicle platforms. The Planner Reasoning Team is responsible for the Waymo Driver’s behavior and is focused on enabling new data-driven approaches to improve autonomous driving.

Requirements

• Experience with offboard ML training and data pipelines infrastructure
• Experience manipulating and analyzing large datasets
• Experience in the autonomous driving domain, including areas like motion planning or perception
• Proficiency in SQL
• Proficiency in C++
• Eval experience, contributing to scalable eval workflows and building metrics for ML models

Responsibilities

• Develop novel ways to inspect, understand, filter, improve and curate data to be used for ML training and evaluation
• Build data tooling/infrastructure to unblock experimentation and to productionalize ML solutions
• Collaborate closely with partner teams such as perception, research, simulation, and evaluation
• Stay up-to-date with the latest data-driven approaches, and be able to prototype, develop and deploy these novel solutions to open-ended problems
• Add Reasoning logic into ML models
• Enable data-driven evaluation and data introspection/understanding
• Auto-label training data

• PhD, Masters or Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field
