Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program. This program is crucial for the Missile Defense System, providing an operational platform for planning, monitoring, and controlling ballistic missile defense operations to meet global and regional mission objectives.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of software engineering and software development with Java/J2EE experience or other object-oriented development experience
  • Knowledge of software practices like: Coding standards, Automated testing, Automated build pipelines, Configuration management
  • Familiarity with common software development and management tools, such as: Maven, git/GitHub, Nexus, Eclipse
  • Understanding Agile development methodologies
  • Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts like Use Cases and SysML diagrams
  • Experience developing enterprise applications on Linux (Windows experience also preferred)
  • Experience with software integration and formal testing

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for conducting in-depth analysis and providing technical support for systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge, debugs, and configures related software products
  • Works from specifications to develop or modify operating system applications
  • Assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation of programs
  • Coordinates with other systems support groups to resolve issues, establish standards, and enhance overall system efficiency
  • Designs, codes, tests, and implements tools for automation of operations
  • Participates in most phases of software systems programming applications and may require minor guidance in additional phases

  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
  • Applicants must possess strong oral, written, and communication skills, along with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Applicants should also have strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze performance and operational issues, identify root causes, and develop, recommend, design, and implement solutions
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Ability to present complex concepts to non-software engineers, including senior program and military leaders
