The organization is developing a browser designed to better support and empower users in their daily internet activities and needs a Services Engineer to build and operate the backend systems that power advanced AI experiences within the browser.
Requirements
- 5+ years designing, building, and operating cloud services (GCP, AWS, Azure) with high availability and low latency.
- Proficient in backend programming with Go, TypeScript, Swift, or Python; able to own production services end to end.
- Security-focused mindset with experience in least-privilege access, strong isolation, encryption, and auditable controls.
- Experience with identity and policy enforcement, including authentication, authorization, organizational/account guardrails, quotas, and retention.
- Proven reliability practices including service level objectives, incident response/on-call, observability, and post-mortems.
- Experience integrating with third-party platforms and partner APIs using safe contracts and resilient pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Design and operate backend services for browser-integrated AI, coordinating multi-model execution and maintaining low latency.
- Build secure architecture with strong isolation, least privilege, fine-grained authentication and authorization, tenant-aware data boundaries, and auditable controls.
- Implement organizational and account-level guardrails including usage limits, retention policies, and policy enforcement, integrated into identity, billing, and administrative systems.
- Integrate organizational services with partner platforms and third-party systems.
- Ensure reliability at scale through robust queues, workers, backpressure, retries, circuit breakers, and service level objectives with comprehensive observability.
- Measure and improve systems through dashboards, alerts, incident reviews, and performance optimization.
- Protect privacy by minimizing data collection, controlling exposure to AI models, and enforcing data lifecycle policies.
