Meta Platforms, Inc. (Meta) is looking to solve problems related to operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for large distributed components that run their applications, aiming to build the next evolution in social technology through immersive experiences like augmented and virtual reality.
Requirements
- Coding in one of the following industry-standard languages: Java
- Relational databases and SQL
- Software development tools: revision control systems (Subversion and GIT)
- Linux, UNIX, or other *nix-like OS as evidenced by file manipulation, simple commands, and shell scripting
- Core web technologies: HTML, CSS, or JavaScript
- Building highly-scalable performant solutions
- Building large-scale infrastructure applications
- Distributed systems including consistency and availability
- Designing and completing medium to large features independently without guidance
- Experience owning a particular component, feature or system
- Design scalable distributed systems with consistency and availability guarantees
Responsibilities
- Research, design, develop, build and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for large distributed components that run our applications.
- Build new features and improve existing products.
- Push code, drive the development of the systems behind our products, and create web applications that reach billions of people, build high volume servers, and be a part of a team to connect people around the globe.
- Develop a strong understanding of relevant product area, codebase, and/or systems.
- Produce high quality code with good test coverage, using modern abstractions and frameworks.
- Master internal development standards from developing to releasing code in order to take on tasks and projects with increasing levels of complexity.
- Design scalable distributed systems with consistency and availability guarantees

- Receiving general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects or assignments, work independently, use available resources to get unblocked, and complete tasks on-schedule by exercising strong judgment and problem solving skills.

- Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 36 months of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation
