Meta Platforms, Inc. (Meta) is looking to solve problems related to building technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses, specifically by moving beyond 2D screens toward immersive experiences like augmented and virtual reality to build the next evolution in social technology.
Requirements
- Coding in one of the following industry-standard languages: C, C++, C, Python, Java, or JavaScript
- Relational databases and SQL
- Software development tools: Code editors (VIM or Emacs), and revision control systems (Subversion, GIT, or Perforce)
- Linux, UNIX, or other *nix-like OS including file manipulation and simple commands
- Core web technologies: HTML, CSS, or JavaScript
- Building large-scale infrastructure applications
- Applying algorithms and core computer science concepts to real world systems as evidenced by recognizing and matching patterns from different areas of computer science in production systems
Responsibilities
- Research, design, develop, build, and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for large distributed components that run applications.
- Build new features and improve existing products.
- Run experiments to verify metrics improvements without regressions.
- Work on problems of diverse scope and design core, backend software components.
- Drive projects and improvements that span across organizations and cross functional teams.
- Handle large scale data storage, synchronization, and coordination of large server clusters.
- Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources using tools such as debuggers, performance analysis tools, and data mining systems.
Other
- Complete projects of large scope independently without guidance.
- Receiving little instruction on day-to-day work
- Conduct design and code reviews to unblock teammates and other teams’ partners on their projects.
- Identify and drive improvements for assigned codebase, product area and/or systems.
- Improve team operational efficiency by identifying issues slowing the team down and driving changes to address them.
