Microsoft is seeking a Software Engineer II to contribute to the development of its rapidly growing commercial platform, specifically within the Commerce Platform & Experiences team. The role involves building and operating world-class commerce experiences for customers and partners, addressing complex engineering challenges to create robust, reliable, and highly distributed software systems using the latest technologies.

Requirements

  • 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C, Java, JavaScript, .NET, or Python
  • 2+ years of experience designing, developing, or maintaining secure software systems, with applied knowledge of authentication, data protection, access control, and secure coding practices.
  • 2+ years of experience working with distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Databricks, or similar technologies to transform and manage large-scale datasets.
  • 1+ year of experience designing and developing scalable solutions using microservices architecture and related technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, etc)
  • 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • Experience applying analytical techniques and structured design methods to develop software solutions.
  • Understanding of AI/ML fundamentals and tools such as Azure ML, OpenAI, or data analytics workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code to support various software features and data-related workflows.
  • Work closely with senior engineers to develop and improve product features.
  • Participate in testing and validating new features, including assisting with experiments and analyzing results.
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.
  • writing high-quality code to build robust, reliable, and highly distributed software systems using the latest technologies.
  • envision, design, code, validate, and deploy key features with substantial customer impact

Other

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
