Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior engineers to design, prototype, and test microservices and AI-enabled backend components.
- Implement proof-of-concept features in Python, Golang, or another modern programming language.
- Integrate pre-trained AI/ML models (e.g., object detection, tracking) into existing cloud workflows.
- Write clean, maintainable code and unit tests, participating in peer code reviews.
- Assist in building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Docker, and Azure DevOps.
- Monitor & debug basic issues in cloud environments (Azure preferred) and suggest improvements.
- Document designs, APIs, and experiments so that knowledge is shared with the team.
Requirements
- Foundational CS knowledge in data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
- Hands-on coursework or project experience with at least one AI/ML framework (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn).
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Golang, Java, or C++.
- Familiarity with Git and basic command-line workflows.
Other
- Current undergraduate student pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field (expected graduation 2026 or later).
- Strong communication & teamwork skills, with a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Personal or academic projects involving computer-vision models (object detection, tracking, or classification).
- Exposure to cloud services (Azure Functions, Storage, or equivalent services on AWS/GCP).
- Experience containerizing workloads with Docker or working with CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka) or RESTful API design.
- Interest in public-transit technologies, IoT, or edge computing.
- Must pass a negative drug screen during the pre-employment process due to working on or with federal contracts.
