Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is looking to advance the technological backbone for Disney’s media business globally, specifically focusing on the development and ongoing advancement of the technical and operational functions driving the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney’s linear networks and theatrical content.
Requirements
- Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript/TypeScript
- Knowledge of backend programming languages - Kotlin, Java, NodeJS
- Understanding of frameworks including Spring Boot
- Familiarity with NoSQL and relational database systems – e.g. Mongo, Postgres, DynamoDB
- Understanding of REST APIs and basic web concepts
- Exposure to version control (Git) and willingness to learn CI/CD basics
- Interest in cloud technologies (AWS or similar)
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and testing APIs and microservices
- Contribute to bug fixes and small feature enhancements under guidance from senior engineers
- Code new functionality within the Disney Ordering Tool and/or ARIEL
- Write clear documentation for code, workflows, and deployment steps
- Join daily squad meetings to share updates on current work being completed
- Participate in code reviews and sprint planning to learn agile practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. product, engineering, ops, security) to align on the requirements of upcoming tickets
Other
- Currently enrolled undergraduate student in an accredited college/university, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or related field.
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program AND returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess unrestricted work authorization
- Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
