Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is looking to solve complex and distinctive technical problems by developing and implementing groundbreaking products and techniques that shape industry norms. The Personalization & Recommendations team specifically aims to improve services that personalize experiences for millions of daily viewers by leveraging Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence.

Requirements

  • Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, databases, etc.).
  • Proficiency developing software using an object-oriented programming language.
  • Experience developing software using Java, Python, and/or Kotlin.
  • An understanding of and/or passion for learning how large-scale, high-availability backend services work.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the team and key stakeholders to develop and roll out personalized content to the world.
  • Build and optimize hot path services that cater to millions of daily viewers.
  • Write test code and perform load testing to ensure correctness and maintainability of our services.
  • Learn to troubleshoot live application and service issues by leveraging our observability platforms.
  • Perform code reviews for members of the team.

Other

  • Junior or Senior Preferred
  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student in an accredited college/university, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or related field.
  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program AND returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
