The Metropolitan Council's Information Services department is looking to modernize systems and spearhead digital transformation efforts by hiring a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team in delivering high-quality, innovative software solutions.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft .NET technologies, preferably within Azure or another cloud environment, with a proven track record in leveraging cloud capabilities and services.
- Experience with cloud migration initiatives and a strong understanding of cloud-native architecture and fundamentals.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead an Agile development culture, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Proven experience in leading Problem and Incident Management processes, ensuring effective root cause analysis, service restoration, and long-term corrective actions.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, Continuous integration and Continuous delivery pipelines, and observability tools.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality, scalable software solutions aligned with business goals.
- Oversee the entire software development lifecycle—from strategic planning and design through deployment and maintenance—ensuring technical excellence and timely delivery in an Agile environment.
- Manage the operations and complete product lifecycle management of a large, diverse portfolio of custom-built and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications ensuring the continued performance, reliability, and alignment of these products with organizational needs.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to align technology initiatives with strategic objectives, drive modernization and digital transformation efforts, and remove roadblocks that impede your team’s productivity.
- Prioritize and facilitate communications and maintaining software quality and performance to drive organizational success.
- Manage performance of direct reports including developing and mentoring engineering talent,
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

- Manage relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including business leaders, end users, and executives, to ensure alignment of technology initiatives with strategic objectives.
- Oversee vendor relationships to ensure delivery of quality products and services.
- Develop and manage business network relationships that are essential to facilitate collaboration, manage expectations, and drive consensus among diverse groups.
