Flock Safety is expanding its investment in Drones for first responders and is building out a team of talented engineers to shape the future of autonomous systems. They are looking for a leader who is excited to manage and grow this team, and is also deeply hands-on and ready to contribute technically.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in C++ and/or Rust for performance-critical, low-level systems
- Experience implementing near-real-time systems on embedded Linux computers
- Deep understanding of real-time systems, robotics middleware, or autonomy stacks
- Familiarity with guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) and/or path planning algorithms
- Experience developing or integrating with autopilot software (e.g., PX4, ArduPilot, custom stacks)
- Comfort working close to hardware — interfacing with sensors, actuators, and low-level I/O protocols
- Systems thinking — ability to reason across architecture layers and make tradeoffs
Responsibilities
- Guide a small, focused team operating at the intersection of robotics, embedded software, and autonomy
- Roll up your sleeves to work directly on the software stack that powers our drones
- Manage everything from video processing and multi-agent control architecture, to autopilot, GNC (guidance, navigation, and control), and path planning
- Set direction, evolve our infrastructure and deployment pipeline for autonomous vehicles
- Build the culture, tools, and processes that allow the team to scale
- Contribute technically to the software stack that powers our drones
- Work directly on the software stack that powers our drones
Other
- Experience leading small teams
- Ownership mindset — you take initiative, move fast, and operate well in ambiguity
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and low-ego communication style
- This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, values deep collaboration, and knows how to create clarity and momentum even when the path forward isn’t obvious.
- You’ll be joining a low-ego, high-talent group, and your impact will be felt in the people you lead, the technology you help deliver, and the foundation you lay for Flock’s future in autonomy.
