Ford is looking to enhance its current dealer capabilities by leveraging advanced technology to redefine the transportation landscape, enhance the customer experience, and improve people's lives. The Software Platform Engineer Manager will lead software craftsmanship for multiple product teams related to the M&S Dealer Platform product journeys and apply platform engineering principles to ensure application platforms can grow while meeting increasing demands.

Requirements

  • 8+ overall years of experience building and maintaining complex enterprise web applications in microservice product architecture
  • At least 3+ years’ experience with cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Possess in-depth expertise in core technologies, including Java, Spring, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, messaging frameworks, container-based development (Docker), Elasticsearch, relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), NoSQL solutions (Azure Cosmos DB or Cassandra), and event-driven architecture solutions like Kafka.
  • Experience in successfully migrating legacy applications to modern cloud-based architectures utilizing Google Cloud Platform (GCP) cloud technologies.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Delivery process and tools, testing frameworks, and practices (preferably GitHub, Ready API, Terraform, Tekton, etc.).
  • Understand the testing pyramid, develop a suite of unit tests and API tests, and adopt a "test-as-you-code" strategy.
  • Utilize Microservices, Cloud-Native, Event-driven architectures, and languages like React, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Public Cloud (Google Cloud), and Serverless, Kubernetes

Responsibilities

  • Lead software craftsmanship for multiple product teams related to the M&S Dealer Platform product journeys
  • Apply platform engineering principles to significantly enhance Ford’s current dealer capabilities
  • Ensure that application platforms can grow while meeting increasing demands
  • Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full-stack systems to create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company
  • Establish a platform improvement roadmap that describes key areas of priorities based on the assessments of current capabilities
  • Identify critical dependencies and recommend related enterprise foundational technology capabilities and improvements to senior IT and business partner management, focusing on software engineering/programming/solution designs
  • Utilize Microservices, Cloud-Native, Event-driven architectures, and languages like React, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Public Cloud (Google Cloud), and Serverless, Kubernetes

Other

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • At least 5+ years of experience in leading software engineering delivery
  • At least 3+ years of people management and agile delivery experience
  • Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and, from time to time, being asked to code or evaluate code
