Google is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to provide technical leadership to major projects, manage a team of engineers, optimize code, manage project goals, contribute to product strategy, and develop their team. The role involves working with Cloud Dataproc to enable users to modernize their BigData Analytics workloads in the cloud using technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Flink, and Trino.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects.
  • Experience with open-source analytics frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, Presto, Flink, Kafka, etc.
  • Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.

Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals while aligning strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
  • Develop mid-term technical goals and roadmaps across multiple teams and evolve them to meet anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs.
  • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).

  • oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.
  • work with Cloud Dataproc, which enables open-source data analytics users to modernize their BigData Analytics workloads in the cloud using technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Flink and Trino.
