Google is looking to hire a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for the life-cycle of how first-party (1P) and third-party (3P) device providers connect their devices and report to the Google Home Platform. The role involves managing cloud services and APIs for device synchronization, real-time state management, and command execution routing, while also driving strategy and execution for enhancing provider APIs, improving data quality, reliability, and scale.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience with API design.

Responsibilities

  • Manage systems handling device life-cycle, data ingestion, cloud-based device control paths, and intelligent routing mechanisms.
  • Set the technical direction, drive engineering excellence, and grow a team.
  • Work at the intersection of cloud services, device ecosystems, and smart home technologies.
  • Collaborate across time zones with Engineering stakeholders.
  • Manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.
  • Own the cloud services and APIs that manage device synchronization, real-time state management, and command execution routing.
  • Drive the strategy and execution for enhancing our provider APIs, improving data quality, reliability, and scale.

  • 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
  • Experience with technical strategy setting, road map planning, stakeholder management
  • Experience working with clients and maintaining a user-centric approach to problem-solving.
