LangChain is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the team behind their open-source frameworks, LangChain and LangGraph, aiming to make intelligent agents ubiquitous by providing developers with the tools to ship reliable agents fast.

Requirements

  • Strong technical background in Python and TypeScript, with deep understanding of software architecture, API design, and developer tooling.
  • Hands-on experience building or maintaining open source frameworks or SDKs used by external developers.
  • Experience building AI/LLM frameworks, developer tools, or orchestration platforms.
  • Proven ability to balance fast iteration with ecosystem stability and backward compatibility.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the technical direction and ensure a delightful developer experience of LangChain and LangGraph.
  • Engage directly with the open source community review contributions, respond to feedback, and cultivate new maintainers.
  • Lead by example in writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code in Python and TypeScript when needed.
  • Collaborate closely with LangSmith and other internal teams to ensure a cohesive developer experience across the LangChain ecosystem.
  • Champion developer experience and documentation quality, maintaining a high bar for usability and clarity.
  • Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers, fostering collaboration, ownership, and accountability.
  • Strengthen LangChain’s engineering culture through mentorship, high-quality code, and technical excellence.

  • Experience managing or tech-leading teams delivering complex, developer-focused open source projects.
  • Partner with product, design, docs and developer relations to set priorities, shape roadmap, and define success criteria.
  • Excellent communication skill comfortable engaging in public forums, GitHub discussions, and with community contributors.
  • Bias towards shipping quickly and learning from community and customers
  • Background in developer relations or community engagement.
