FOCUS Learning is seeking a technically skilled and detail-oriented Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer to support the development and validation of software systems in a highly regulated nuclear energy and power distribution environment. This individual contributor role is responsible for ensuring software quality and compliance with industry-specific regulatory expectations.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance, preferably in a regulated or critical infrastructure environment.
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Hands-on experience with API testing, performance testing, and/or web automation.
- Familiarity with Agile software development life cycles.
- Working knowledge of regulatory environments governed by bodies such as NRC, NERC, INPO, and SOC
- Experience with test management tools (e.g., TestRail).
- Knowledge of secure software development practices and risk-based testing.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and validate software requirements for completeness, clarity, and compliance with applicable regulatory and cybersecurity expectations.
- Design, develop, and execute test plans and test cases for functional, integration, regression, and performance testing.
- Use tools such as Postman, JMeter, Playwright* or similar for API, load, and web automation testing.
- Identify, document, and track software defects using issue tracking systems (e.g., Jira*).
- Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and defects to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure software meets quality, reliability, and security expectations in alignment with oversight from NRC, NERC, INPO, and SOC frameworks.
- Participate in risk assessments and design reviews to ensure software quality and regulatory compliance.
