Oceaneering Technologies (OTECH) needs to establish and support a Software Simulations and Controls (SSC) group to address software and analysis needs for their customized marine systems, shipboard equipment, subsea vehicles, and engineered solutions. The Deputy role will assist the head of the SSC group in managing and improving the group's operations and output.
Requirements
- 5+ years of practical experience in software engineering for hardware-based products.
- Experience supporting government programs.
- Experience mentoring and managing software engineers.
- Understanding of CI/CD output from a metrics perspective. Including tools and environments such as: Github, Jira, Artifactory or Azure.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the quality of software work products (including DevOps) and proactively address areas of concern.
- Interface with the Oceaneering Software Center of Excellence and other Oceaneering business units to ensure OTECH is following company procedures and best practices.
- Review proposal efforts including Statements of Work (SoW)/Performance Work Statements (PWS), Basis of Estimates (BoE) and Rough Orders of Magnitude (ROM).
- Assess work progress via events such as design reviews or Monthly Increment Program Reviews.
- Work with engineering leads and program managers to proactively find and address problems.
- Demonstrate ability to devise innovative solutions to problems when conventional solutions are insufficient.
- Function as SSC Manager when they are out of office.
Other
- Write and help implement internal policies and procedures for the SSC group.
- Contribute to policies and procedures external to the group (such as corporate software standards, quality, or engineering).
- Functionally manage SSC members.
- Participate in SSC hiring and resource allocation.
- Evaluate and help purchase software licensing and overhead equipment such as monitors, electrical monitoring tools, boards, or signal convertors.
- Work with corporate IT to address issues and craft implementation for new capabilities/practices.
- Solid written and oral communications skills, including ability to effectively document, convey, and present engineering issues to team members and customers.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Government Department of Defense Security Clearance.
- Must be a US citizen.
- Support occasional travel needs.
